Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5 Ano is a world class Ribera del Duero produced by the legendary Tempos Vega Sicilia. It is primarily made up of Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo, with small amounts of Merlot blended in. Fruit is sourced from the 210ha Finca Vega Sicilia vineyard, planted at 700-900m altitude with a density of 2,222 vines per hectare.

• The wine exhibits a deep cherry hue, bordering on garnet, indicative of its concentration and maturity.
• On the nose, it presents an alluring bouquet of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums, complemented by elegant floral notes of violets. Subtle hints of spices like black pepper and clove, along with undertones of cedar and cocoa, add complexity and depth.
• The palate is robust yet refined, offering a velvety texture with flavours of juicy plum, cherry, and blueberry. Silky tannins provide structure, while balanced acidity imparts freshness. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of toasted wood and a delicate mineral touch.

This iconic wine is aged over five winters in barrel then bottle, hence the name: Valbuena 5º Ano. The crucial first year of ageing takes place in smaller barrels, comprising 75% French oak and 25% American oak. The second year of ageing takes place in large oak vats and, during this stage, the wine gains elegance, complexity, tension and subtlety. This is the perfect balance between elegance, complexity and concentration.
