Tenuta Scuotto Taurasi
Taurasi DOCG stands proudly as a appellation within Irpinia, marking the first DOCG of Southern Italy. This wine showcases the esteemed Aglianico grape variety, representing 100% of its composition. The terroir, characterised by calcareous marls, volcanic deposits, and limestone, imparts distinct qualities to the wine. Firm tannins from the limestone and a subtle smokiness from the volcanic soil intertwine, adding complexity to the flavour profile.
According to regulations, these wines must undergo three years of ageing before release, with at least one year spent in barrels. However, they opt for a lengthier bottle ageing process, prioritising elegance and a velvety texture. This extended ageing period allows the wine to mature gracefully, enhancing its finesse and depth of flavour.
- This wine boasts a full-bodied character and exceptional ageing potential. Despite its richness, elevated extract, and prominent tannins, it maintains a remarkable balance of linear structure and finesse
- Taurasi delights the palate with a spectrum of flavours, like ripe raspberries, plums, and black cherries. Complemented by intriguing smoky nuances reminiscent of white tobacco, freshly ground coffee, and newly tanned leather
- With time, Tenuta Scuotto Taurasi evolves gracefully, revealing earthy undertones reminiscent of forest floor and hints of gameiness, adding depth to its complexity
