This is a real beauty of a Rosé; elegant, fresh, light, perfumed, mouthwatering and balanced. Slightly lighter in colour and a little fresher than its elder sibling, this is a gorgeous wine that is indeed suitable for all seasons and with a huge variety of cuisine. Or none…

One of the many tricky things about categorising Rosé wines is that there are so many myriad ways of making them without one, defined method being able to lay claim to being the authentic Rosé style.

Certainly some regions have produced blush, pink coloured wines for many centuries and others may be newer to the practice, but as to what sets the benchmark… possibly Provence? Tavel? Anjou? It’s unfair to state. However, this ambivalence also gives rise to the greatest potential in Rosé wines’ armoury – there is so much up for grabs and no one can really tell you what is right or wrong! Yes, there are appellation laws to consider, but the only other guide is the market.

Trends and fashions in Rosé wine drinking is now quite a big business. Over the past five years at least it is style of Provence that has called the shots in what is most likely to sell and this particular offering is to be found right at the cutting edge of that fashion-making curve.

Famously owned by Brangelina, the estate was making excellent wine before they made the purchase, but the credibility that they gave the winery and to the Rosé industry as a whole, meant that the die was cast. Rosé was not only acceptable for drinking, it was now desirable and allowed you to get closer to the stars. Kind of. Well, they don’t own it now, and regardless of the fashionable nature of the property and the many copy-cat wines its success spawned, it does make really delicious wines.
