This is a stunning wine that is one of those wonderful Italian whites that counts as a rare find. It’s not a fully fruity, ripe and juicy wine, rather it is fresh and crisp with tension and structure that support minerality and elegance, subtle white blossom and pale fruit aromas. Delicious with grilled seafood or on its own.
If you think that Italian whites are about Pinot Grigio, (which you are bored of), please think again and try this delightful, thoughtful wine.
This fascinating wine is a blend of three indigenous varieties that are particularly well-suited to the Marche region of the east Italian coastline.
Passerina, Pecorino and Trebbiano could make this a fruity, juicy mouthful of wine, but instead create a complex but restrained bottle on account of the organic viticulture that is becoming very much a part of a modern Marche and Abruzzo scene.
Made by one of the oldest wine making families in the region, based in the town of Ascoli, the vineyard area is now 100% organic, which is a massive feat given their 200 hectares of planting.
The quality though is more than justification. These are wines that are clear, clean, complex and delicious – every bit as worthy as other wines from neighbouring regions.
