Petra, 2020 – 6 btls in a Wooden Box

The grapes:Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 28, and cabernet Franc 12%% are harvested on calcareous soils with the right balance between clay and skeleton. Suitable lands suitable for bred varieties but above all capable of bringing out their distinctive traits.

Estate organic grapes grown on the estate in Suvereto , a sub area of Maremma Tuscany. Maremma is know for making wines from International varieties. Aged 18 month in barrique, a french barrel. Alc 14%

Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri 

The 2019 Petra, the estate’s flagship is terrific. Remarkably detailed for such a big, explosive wine, 2019 boasts serious depth and intensity throughout. Dark red cherry, plum, graphite, smoke, and tobacco are some of the signatures. 2019 is layered and deeply expressive throughout. Sweet herbs, sage, tobacco, and earthy notes add nuance to the ferrous, savory finish. It would be great to see all the Petra wines at this level.
