From one of the great houses of Haro, this is a white that you need to experience. Elegant, complex and poised, it is full of bright yellow-fruit flavours with nuanced spice from its unobtrusive barrel-fermentation. A perfectly balanced glass that is welcome in our patch at any time of the day, with or without food.
Bodegas Muga are situated in the heart of the town of Haro in the Alta subzone of Rioja. Historic and traditional, their quality-minded approach has kept their wines relevant, fresh and delicious. This almost nullifies what one might imagine a sense of traditionalism would bring to a winery (it’s a similar trick to the great Bavarian breweries, who make exceptionally fresh beer in the same way as they did about five hundred years ago), as there is never any sense of tiredness or lethargy in the wines. This means that as well as holding the status of grand old house, they are also able to be at the cutting edge of the region’s wines, which is no mean feat.
