Herencia Altes Garnatxa Blanca Trementinaire Orange Wine
Herencia Altes was founded in 2010 by Nuria Altes and her partner Rafael de Haan in Terra Alta, Catalonia. This project was born from a dream for Nuria to one day do something special on the land on which she grew up.
This is a family-owned winery producing fresh, elegant, organic wines. They cultivate 50 hectares of vines at 420 to 500 metres above sea level. The focus is on indigenous grape varieties, especially Garnatxa. Terra Alta is a region of extremes; cold winters and hot, dry summers.
Winemaking at Herencia Altes is minimal intervention. Spontaneously fermenting grapes with indigenous yeasts in a series of micro-vinification in small tanks. Using only free-run juice for the whites and roses, and whole bunches for the reds.
Preferring concrete tanks for both fermentation and maturation so as to get the benefits of micro-oxygenation without imparting secondary aromas and flavours. If using wood they prefer large, old vessels for the same reason.
Fermenting the wine on the skins. The must spends four weeks in contact with the skins to extract colour and aromas before being transferring into large, old oak barrels for 24 months ageing.
- Herencia Altes Garnatxa Blanca Trementinaire Orange Wine is a bright orange colour
- Interesting aromas of herbs, apple skin and dried orange peel
- Fresh, intense and dry on the palate
- This pairs well with hard cheeses, dried fruits and nuts
