Frontonio Microcosmico Macabeo
Bodegas Frontonio was founded by Fernando Mora MW and Mario Lopez in 2008 in traditional mountain vineyards in the Aragon region of Spain. Naming them after San Frontonio, a martyr whose decapitated head was found going upriver.
A story that Fernando and Mario felt symbolised their spirit of swimming against the tide. All their and made from dry-farmed bush vines. Regenerative farming is at the heart of their philosophy. Crafting their wines in small quantities and ageing in historic caves in the mountains.
Hand harvesting the Macabeo grapes from 65 year old vines grown on limestone soils at 530m altitude in the Valdejalon IGP. Ageing the wine on the fine lees for 6 months in underground concrete tanks, with regular battonage.
