Descrizione
This historic estate shows the potential power that can be achieved from the southern districts of Chianti Classico. Based just to the north-east of Sienna, the wines in this small locality are often mistaken for Montalcino with their fuller, more concentrated and structured style.
This is a fantastic Chianti Classico and though the alcohol is reigned-in, it is a wine that is as polished, dark and significant as any Tuscan winery would wish to proffer.
This is a wine that is full of red berry and cherry fruit notes that are laced with delicious spices and complexity inviting you to get right in. It’s a perfectly balanced wine that is medium bodied, complex and long. Its supple tannins would readily convince that this can age for up to a decade.
The vineyards are planted at high altitudes, 350-420 metres above sea level, facing south-west, and are made up of Albarese, sandstone and pebbley soils with distinct lumps of quartz. The wine is aged in small and medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels for about 12 months.

Textbook Chianti Classico with violet and red fruit aromas; medium-bodied with dark cherry fruits. Good but not intrusive acidity and perfectly judged tannins on the finish. Try this with most plainly grilled red meats or mushroom-based dishes. This was a treat on a chilly February evening
