Descrizione
This wine is a spectacular example of focus, dedication and quality. The Talmard family in this winery make one single wine – this is it. Loved and respected by restaurants and dinner parties alike, it manages to show a broad, balanced and approachable style of Burgundy that is complex and delicious and made without the use of any new oak barrels whatsoever.
Uchizy is a town in the north of the Macon region, closer to Chalon than it is to Pouilly Fuissé. But it shares much of the generosity of the region’s climate and has a long history in viticulture – the closest village is Chardonnay itself, giving you some clue… The land is flat and the rich, clayey soil with its mineral deposits is what the Talmard family feel give their Chardonnay grapes such character; character that they want to tease and coax gently, which would otherwise run the risk of being smothered by any oak influence.
The result is really lovely wine – medium bodied in the mouth showing pear and apple flavours, with a crisp citrussy finish that lasts for ages.
Many thanks to Newstalk FM’s Movies and Booze for their mention of this wine on our site in October 2021…
