Macallan Red Collection 50 Year Old Whisky

The Macallan Red Collection is a limited-edition series of which celebrates the history and craftmanship of the distillery. The name Red Collection pays homage to the colour red which is throughout their history.

The significance of the colour red runs deep in The Macallan’s history. Tracing its origins back to Alexander Reid, the founder of the distillery in 1824. Reid, a farmer and teacher, bore the surname meaning ‘the red one’ in Scots, originally linked to red hair.

Fast forward almost a century to 1903, Roderick Kemp, owner, introduced The Macallan Choice Old range. This distinguished line was shipped in cases adorned with a distinctive red print. This sets it apart from the distillery’s existing whiskies packaged in black ink.

• The palate dances with the fusion of dried fruits and intricate wood spices, evolving into a decadent medley of dates and dark chocolate, accented by the zest of orange oil and whispers of sultanas
