Fortaleza Anejo Tequila
Made from 100% blue weber agave Fortaleza Anejo Tequila starts with hand-selected agave, slowly roasted in a traditional stone/brick oven to develop its deep, caramelised character. Once cooked, the agave is crushed using a 100% stone tahona—a centuries-old method that preserves the integrity of the plant’s natural sugars.
Fermentation takes place in open-air wood tanks, allowing natural yeasts from the surrounding environment to influence the final profile. The tequila is then double distilled in copper pot stills, enhancing its rich texture and complexity. After distillation, Fortaleza Anejo rests for 18 months in American oak barrels, where it develops its signature depth of flavour.
- On the nose, aromas of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, and cooked agave rise effortlessly from the glass, immediately showcasing the influence of both the barrel and the agave itself.
- Hints of pineapple, peach, orange blossom, nutmeg, and raisin add layers of complexity, making for an inviting and intriguing start.
- The first sip delivers a rich, full-bodied texture, coating the palate with smooth, buttery notes of toffee, caramel, and butterscotch. This sweetness is balanced by bright citrus undertones and a gentle warmth that lingers without overpowering.
- Hints of hazelnut and toasted oak emerge towards the finish, leaving a long-lasting impression that is both elegant and deeply satisfying.
