Esporao Reserva White
Esporao was founded in 1973 by Jose Roquette and Joaquim Bandeira. Today Joao Roquette, son of co-founder Jose runs the vineyard. It has become one of the largest producers of in Portugal and the world.
Their base is in the Alentejo, but they also make wines from the Douro and Vinho Verde regions of Portugal. Their commitment to sustainability recently earned them a Green Michelin Star for the Herdade do Esporao restaurant.
Esporao Reserva White is from vines of an average age of 15-25 years.
- Planted on soils with a granite and schist base, with a high proportion of loam and clay
- A blend of native varietals – Antao Vaz, Arinto and Roupeiro. Fermenting each varietal individually before blending
- Fermenting 70% of the wine in stainless steel, and the rest in new American and French oak barrique’s
- Ageing for 6 months on the fine lees after fermentation
- Aromas and flavours of grapefruit, white peach, toasted oak, and fresh nutmeg and herbs. The wine has a creamy texture balanced by fresh acidity
Pairs well with grilled or roasted white meats, creamy fish dishes, and octopus risotto.
