Kilkerran 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

The Kilkerran 12 year old single malt whisky is lightly peated and non-chill filtering. Maturing takes place in a combination of 70% bourbon casks and 30% Sherry casks.

• Oak notes are dominant
• Followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat
• On the palette enjoy the initial fruity with citrus notes and orange peel
• Then vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuits
• The finish is velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there’s an oiliness and a saltiness that you’d expect from a Campbeltown dram

Kilkerran is the name chose for the  from the Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery, there are two reasons for this. Firstly, the name Glengyle is for . Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd were not able to purchase the rights to use that name. Wanting to avoid any confusion between the newest single malt and a pre-existing Highland malt.

Secondly, Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd are proud to be continuing and adding to the great Campbeltown Distilling tradition. The choice of name reflects that.

Kilkerran is from the Gaelic ‘Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain’ the name of the original settlement where Saint Kerran had his religious cell. This is where Campbeltown now stands. Kilkerran is a suitable name for a new Campbeltown malt, since it was unusual for the old  to take the name Glen. A custom more usually associated with the .
