Gallica Rorick Heritage Albarino
From renowned winemaker Rosemary Cakebread comes Gallica’s Albarino, crafted from a high-elevation vineyard, which captures the distinct limestone terroir of the region. Harvested on August 30th, the grapes, smaller than average, were pressed whole and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. The wine was then aged on its lees for six months, giving it a complex profile.
- Expect notes of marine salt, lime zest, and delicate white alyssum, alongside the tropical fruit notes typical of Albarino.
- The wine is refreshing and crisp, with a lively acidity, as it undergoes no malolactic fermentation.
- For those interested in wine aging, this Albarino also shows an intriguing evolution over time.
The 2019 growing season was exceptional, with plentiful winter rain, a moderate spring frost, and a generous crop. The cooler temperatures towards the end of the season helped maintain the wine’s fresh and vibrant character.
Perfect for summer, this wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish, Marcona almonds, green olives, and light curries.
